Yang Sing's Cookery Classes

Sharing our knowledge & expertise with you

Classes train students in all three disciplines of a Cantonese kitchen. We cover the areas of dim sum, roasting and wok cooking - you’ll be able to recreate a little bit of our restaurant magic in your own home. Classes tend to be smaller group sizes and are hosted in working kitchens, with plenty of one-to-one tuition.

Class dates are listed below, and typically last anywhere from 2-3 hours for the Cantonese cookery class and masterclasses can last 3-4 hours.

Our private classes are ideal for corporate groups looking for hospitality or teambuilding, or even for a group of friends for a party or simply with an interest in Chinese culture and the culinary arts.

For private or larger group bookings please send across your details and requirements and we'll put together a bespoke event for you.

 Testimonials

"The Allianz guests had a wonderful evening at Yang Sing restaurant where our cookery class was taking place ; the food was absolutely delicious and the service - first class! It is not easy nowadays to find a restaurant with same attention to detail as provided by the Yang Sing. We will certainly be dining there again!  What an enjoyable experience!" Monika, Allianz Insurance, Guildford- Corporate entertainment private cookery class 5/9/13.

"May I say that I thought the whole day was superb for start to finish? I am so grateful to the team, Harry and the chefs who did so much to make it a wonderful and enlightening experience. Harry is quite simply a legend and to be able to watch him prepare Dim Sum and to learn from him was a great privilege and one I will never forget. The skill levels of Harry and the other chefs are absolutely outstanding and I was very much aware that there is a huge difference between watching top experts and being able to do what they do." Nigel Morris- 20/2/16 Cookery master class.

"I just had to write and say a big thank you to all of the staff, when we came for our Cantonese cookery class on Saturday 4th June. The whole experience was so lovely, the staff warm and friendly, and of course the food fantastic." Angela Birley-Long- 4/6/16 Cantonese cookery class.

"Superb hosting of our Yang Sing experience on Friday. All of our group thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and we found it most interesting. The whole evening was much superior to what I was expecting. We are not tourist types, rather food enthusiasts, and we felt (it was) very rewarding.. it all seem (ed) very "fresh", and not remotely like repeated dialogue. We felt very well looked after, and much appreciated"  Michael Rutherford 10/10/16, private cookery class.

" have been on other cookery classes in the past but none compare to this one.  We were educated about the history of the restaurant and treated to a wonderful class in dim sums, duck Cantonese style and wok skills. All the chefs were happy, welcoming and so, so, skilful and informative. To have cooked in the kitchens of this wonderful restaurant was a total thrill. I would recommend this as the perfect gift or a bit of personal indulgence. The food we ate at the end of the course was abundant and delicious." Michael Rhodes 4/3/17 Cantonese Cookery Class
